What Is the Best Contractor Coaching Program?
There is no single best contractor coach for every company. The right fit depends on your trade, revenue stage, biggest problem, budget, preferred level of accountability, and how much time you and your team can devote to implementation.
There. We saved you a lot of Googling.
At Elevation Marketing™, we are not general business coaches. We are a marketing partner for contractors, which gives us a close view of how coaching programs affect the companies we serve. Roughly 60% to 70% of our clients participate in some form of business coaching.
🎧 Care to listen instead? This post is inspired by our Trade Secrets episode about contractor coaching, the good, the bad, and the homework.
The better question is not, “Who is the best contractor coach?”
It is: What problem are you trying to solve, what stage is your company in, and how much work are you prepared to do once you hire a coach?
That last question may be the most important one.
Contractor coaching has exploded. There are inexpensive educational communities, four-figure monthly coaching programs, programs built for specific trades, and advanced mastermind groups that require a serious investment.
Almost every program promises some version of the same outcome:
- More profit
- Better systems
- Less chaos
- A stronger team
- More owner freedom
- A company that can grow without every decision running through one person
Those are great outcomes, but buying access to a program is not the same as achieving them.
We know because we have been on both sides of this. We work with contractors participating in many of these programs, and we have invested in business coaching ourselves.
We experienced the fantastic community, smart people, training libraries, and SOPs. We also reached the end of the year and realized there was an embarrassing amount of good material we had never touched.
Contractor coaching is a little like a gym membership. Paying for it does not get you in shape.
This is not a ranking of contractor coaches from best to worst. It is an editorial comparison of coaching programs worth knowing, what makes each one different, and which contractors may want to take a closer look.
How We Selected These Contractor Coaching Programs
We built this list using:
- Firsthand experience with contractor clients
- Conversations with business owners using these programs
- Our relationships within the contractor industry
- Interviews and conversations with coaches and founders
- Our own experience purchasing business coaching
- Official program information
- Independent research into current services and pricing
Our familiarity is not equal across every program, and we will make that clear.
Some programs serve many Elevation Marketing™ clients. We know the leaders behind others but have less direct client experience. A few repeatedly surfaced during our research, even though we do not currently have clients participating in them.
Inclusion does not mean Elevation Marketing™ has personally used or universally endorses every program.

1. Breakthrough Academy: Best for Contractors Ready to Systemize the Entire Business
Quick Take
Breakthrough Academy, commonly called BTA, serves construction, trades, and home service companies. It combines industry-specific coaching, implementation support, templates, accountability, and a large contractor community.
We have more firsthand exposure to BTA than any other coaching program on this list because a significant percentage of Elevation Marketing™ clients have participated in it.
Best For
Breakthrough Academy may be a good fit for contractors who:
- Have outgrown the systems that helped them reach their current size
- Still depend too heavily on the owner
- Need stronger financial visibility
- Struggle with hiring and team accountability
- Want structured implementation support
- Need repeatable systems across multiple departments
- Are willing to devote meaningful time to the program
What Breakthrough Academy Helps Contractors Solve
Breakthrough Academy addresses owner dependence, unstable profitability, unclear roles, inconsistent sales and marketing processes, hiring problems, and systems that break whenever the company gets busy.
It is built for contractors who are good at their trade but need help building the company around it.
How the Program Works
BTA offers several implementation tracks based partly on company size and revenue. The program includes industry-specific coaches, prebuilt systems, accountability, training, group support, and a community of contractors across North America.
Current published implementation tiers begin at $999 per month for companies with at least $500,000 in annual revenue. Higher tiers are available for companies above $1 million and $3 million in revenue.
Investment and Time Commitment
Do not underestimate the workload.
One of our clients told us there was enough useful information in the library that someone could spend 40 hours a week going through it during the early stages.
That does not mean BTA officially requires 40 hours each week. It illustrates how much material may be available and how easy it is to leave valuable resources unused.
Elevation Marketing™’s Take
We like working with BTA contractors because they tend to know their numbers.
They understand return on investment. They have a better grasp of how marketing connects to capacity, profitability, sales, operations, and sustainable growth. They are often thinking beyond “How many leads did I get?” and asking whether those leads support the company they want to build.
The content is not fluff, but that depth is also the catch. If you are not prepared to implement, the library cannot save you.
Our experience: Extensive firsthand client experience.
2. LeanScaper: Best for Tech-Forward Landscaping Companies
Quick Take
LeanScaper combines landscape business coaching, an operating system, peer learning, and AI-supported technology intended to help landscaping companies run with less owner dependence.
The program focuses on putting systems into daily use rather than simply teaching owners what a system should look like.
Best For
LeanScaper may be a good fit for landscape company owners who:
- Are still the bottleneck for daily decisions
- Have information trapped inside the owner’s head
- Keep solving the same operational problems
- Want to build stronger leadership routines
- Need better visibility into pricing, margins, productivity, and performance
- Are comfortable using technology to support their team
What LeanScaper Helps Contractors Solve
The program addresses owner dependence, weak process adoption, poor operating visibility, inconsistent leadership habits, and the chaos that develops when a growing company still relies on one person for every answer.
How the Program Works
LeanScaper offers coaching, advisory services, community programs, and its LeanScaper AI platform.
Its Starter Accelerator is currently listed at $2,400 per year for companies under $500,000 in revenue. The program includes weekly leadership sessions intended to help companies install the LeanScaper Operating System.
Investment and Time Commitment
The total workload depends on how much of the operating system and technology the company adopts.
Contractors should ask who needs to attend weekly sessions, which processes must be documented, and how much implementation work will happen between calls.
Elevation Marketing™’s Take
What caught our attention was the bridge between learning and implementation.
There is a big difference between hearing someone explain systems and installing those systems inside a working company. LeanScaper’s combination of coaching and technology is designed to help close that gap.
The technology is not a replacement for leadership. Human judgment is still needed to choose the right processes, validate what the software produces, and make sure the team can use it.
That is the type of human-first technology application we like to see.
Our experience: Industry familiarity. We know and respect Benji Carlson’s work, but the podcast does not establish direct Elevation Marketing™ client experience in the program.
3. Highspire: Best for Established Construction Companies Thinking Beyond the Next Job
Quick Take
Highspire is a coaching and capital platform for construction-company owners. Its coaching helps owners build more profitable, self-managing companies, while its capital side creates a potential path toward real estate development and investment.
That makes Highspire different from a program focused only on improving the operating company.
Best For
Highspire may be a good fit for:
- Established custom builders
- Luxury construction companies
- Owners developing a management team
- Companies that need stronger financial clarity
- Contractors considering real estate development
- Owners thinking about long-term wealth beyond contracting revenue
What Highspire Helps Contractors Solve
Highspire addresses financial management, leadership, company culture, project management, operations, marketing, sales, strategic planning, and owner dependence.
It also helps qualified owners explore what can come after the contracting company is stable and profitable.
How the Program Works
Highspire offers customized executive coaching for construction companies. Its capital platform provides opportunities for qualified owners interested in real estate development and investment.
The company currently publishes a $2,000 monthly coaching fee. The exact program cadence and services may vary by engagement.
Investment and Time Commitment
Because the coaching is customized, contractors should ask:
- Who from the leadership team must participate?
- How often are coaching sessions held?
- What work is expected between meetings?
- How is implementation measured?
- What requirements apply to the capital side?
Elevation Marketing™’s Take
We have had clients participate in Highspire, particularly within the custom and luxury construction space.
The leadership team stands out for its business depth. This is also the only primary program on our list with a clear bridge from building a self-managing construction company to participating in development and capital opportunities.
We see it as a stronger fit for an established construction owner than someone who just hung out a shingle.
Our experience: Some firsthand client experience.
4. Bolt Accelerator: Best for Junk Removal Owners Who Want Operator-Led Advice
Quick Take
Bolt Accelerator is powered by 505-Junk and led by co-founder and CEO Barry Hartman. It provides coaching, systems, SOPs, templates, and community support specifically for junk removal companies.
This is where niche coaching gets interesting.
Best For
Bolt Accelerator may be a good fit for junk removal owners who need help with:
- Lead generation
- Pricing
- Sales
- Dispatch
- Truck and crew management
- Hiring
- Financial management
- Leadership
- Profitable scaling
What Bolt Accelerator Helps Contractors Solve
Bolt addresses general contractor problems through a junk-removal-specific lens.
Instead of translating broad business advice into the realities of a truck-based labor company, owners learn from people who understand the pricing, crews, margins, logistics, and customer questions found inside the trade.
How the Program Works
Bolt offers several support levels.
Its Growth Program is currently listed at $497 per month. The Accelerator Program is listed at $1,500 per month and includes coaching, community, SOPs, systems, templates, and industry-specific resources.
Private one-on-one coaching is available, but pricing is not publicly disclosed.
Investment and Time Commitment
Accelerator includes weekly coaching. Owners should also ask how much time they should reserve for the resource library, peer community, and implementation work between sessions.
Elevation Marketing™’s Take
We previously spoke with Barry and heard how the program developed.
Other junk removal owners kept approaching him because they wanted help understanding what he had done to build 505-Junk. Eventually, that informal coaching became a program.
The niche is the advantage. A newer operator can start with a lower-cost option, while a more established company can access direct coaching based on a business model the coach actively operates.
Our experience: Industry familiarity and a direct conversation with Barry Hartman. The podcast does not establish active Elevation Marketing™ clients in the program.
5. The Roofing Academy: Best for Roofers Who Want Systems Built for Their Trade
Quick Take
The Roofing Academy, founded by Randy Brothers, provides roofing-specific training, coaching, resources, events, and community support.
Its programs address the business systems surrounding roofing, including leadership, sales, hiring, operations, production, technology, and financial management.
Best For
The Roofing Academy may be a good fit for roofers who say:
- “I’m great at roofing, but I’m learning the business side as I go.”
- “Production is getting messy as we grow.”
- “We need a repeatable sales process.”
- “Hiring is slowing us down.”
- “We need more leadership beneath the owner.”
- “I want systems built for a roofing company.”
What The Roofing Academy Helps Contractors Solve
The program addresses trial-and-error management, inconsistent production, poor financial visibility, weak hiring systems, owner dependence, and growth without repeatable processes.
How the Program Works
The Roofing Academy offers different programs for companies at different stages of growth.
Its public START and BUILD programs are currently listed at $397 per month. The organization also offers events, coaching, a private community, and a document library with roofing-specific resources.
Investment and Time Commitment
The full weekly time commitment is not publicly standardized.
Contractors should ask which calls, courses, implementation assignments, and leadership-team activities are expected at their specific level.
Elevation Marketing™’s Take
We personally know Randy and several people connected to the organization.
Devon describes Randy as generous and genuinely invested in helping roofers succeed. He also brings experienced people into the program rather than trying to be the only person with answers.
The value is not simply access to roofing content. It is the program’s accumulated view across many roofing companies, which may help owners avoid learning every lesson through expensive trial and error.
Our experience: Personal industry relationships and meaningful familiarity with the leadership team.
6. ContractorCoachPRO: Best for Contractors Who Want a Diagnostic Starting Point
Quick Take
ContractorCoachPRO, led by Nathan Tebedo and Jim Johnson, serves home service and trade contractors across multiple industries.
Its current process begins with a contractor assessment and strategy session instead of asking every owner to choose the same prebuilt track.
Best For
ContractorCoachPRO may be a good fit for owners who know the company needs help but are unsure where to begin.
Potential areas include:
- Leadership
- Hiring
- Company culture
- Financial management
- Sales
- Pricing
- Technology
- CRM processes
- Performance tracking
- Operational systems
What ContractorCoachPRO Helps Contractors Solve
The program focuses on moving contractors away from reactive, owner-dependent operations and toward documented systems, stronger leadership, and a more scalable company.
How the Program Works
The public process starts with a guided contractor assessment. Participants are then connected with a coach for a free one-hour strategy session to discuss the results and identify priority areas.
Pricing for human-led coaching and mastermind support is not publicly disclosed.
Investment and Time Commitment
Before joining, ask whether the recommended program includes:
- One-on-one coaching
- Group coaching
- Self-paced education
- Team training
- Mastermind participation
- Implementation services
- Direct access between scheduled calls
Elevation Marketing™’s Take
This is a research-based inclusion.
We do not currently have the same firsthand client experience with ContractorCoachPRO that we have with Breakthrough Academy or some of the other programs on this list.
It continued to surface during our research because of its emphasis on personal connection, leadership, systems, and matching support to the company’s needs.
That makes it worth investigating, but we are not going to turn research familiarity into a firsthand endorsement. Speak with current members whose companies look like yours before deciding.
Our experience: Research-based inclusion.
7. The Wealthy Contractor Success Society: Best for Established Residential Contractors Seeking a Higher-Level Peer Group
Quick Take
The Wealthy Contractor’s Success Society is a coaching and mastermind program for residential home improvement companies.
The current program page says members should have at least $1 million in annual revenue and be prepared to implement. Based on our conversations, the peer group may become especially valuable for larger contractors with an established operating foundation.
Best For
Success Society may be a good fit for established residential contractors seeking:
- Higher-level peer conversations
- More sophisticated growth strategies
- Profitability improvement
- Leadership development
- Sales support
- Accountability
- A network of owners facing similar problems
- Help preparing the company for greater owner freedom or an eventual sale
What Success Society Helps Contractors Solve
The program addresses isolation at the top, stalled profitability, leadership gaps, inconsistent systems, sales problems, and uncertainty about what the company’s next stage should look like.
How the Program Works
A current public application page lists:
- Three in-person intensive meetings each year
- Monthly peer meetings
- Monthly one-on-one coaching
- Masterclasses
- Sales meetings
- Implementation resources
- Office hours
- Access for a partner, spouse, or key staff member
The public application lists monthly dues of $1,995, a refundable $995 startup fee, and a 12-month commitment. Confirm current pricing and terms directly.
Investment and Time Commitment
The meeting schedule is meaningful.
One Elevation Marketing™ client participating in both Breakthrough Academy and Success Society said that each program provided different value. However, attending two programs also created scheduling and implementation challenges.
Elevation Marketing™’s Take
The peer room appears to be the product.
For a newer contractor, the question may be, “Who can help me install the basics?”
For a more mature operator, the question becomes, “Who else is solving problems at my scale?”
Do not join an advanced peer group because it sounds prestigious. Join because the people in the room are wrestling with the same caliber of problems you are.
Our experience: Some firsthand client experience.
8. 4 Level Coach: Best for Builders and Remodelers Who Want a Stage-Based Path
Quick Take
4 Level Coach, founded by Randy Stanbury, organizes coaching and implementation around the company’s stage of maturity.
Its framework moves from financial and operational foundations to scaling, leadership, succession, sale, and greater owner freedom.
Best For
4 Level Coach may be a good fit for builders and remodelers who need to:
- Fix pricing
- Improve financial visibility
- Organize the team
- Install operating systems
- Build leadership rhythms
- Scale more predictably
- Prepare the business for succession or sale
What 4 Level Coach Helps Contractors Solve
The program addresses bad pricing, unclear numbers, team disorder, missing systems, weak leadership, uncontrolled growth, and the lack of a long-term plan for the owner.
How the Program Works
The company offers coaching and managed services across four stages of business maturity.
The level of coaching and implementation support changes as the company progresses. Current pricing is not clearly published, so contractors should request the latest program matrix directly.
Investment and Time Commitment
Ask what work is handled by the coaching team, what remains with your internal team, and how implementation expectations increase at each level.
Elevation Marketing™’s Take
Randy has appeared on Trade Secrets, and he gave us useful advice about our own company before the interview even started.
One of his most important points is that contractors can become so focused on increasing revenue that they stop asking whether the growth is profitable.
More revenue without the right margins, systems, and capacity can create:
More jobs. More people. More problems. More stress.
Congratulations. You grew the chaos.
Growth should make the company healthier, not merely bigger.
We also appreciate the program’s clear structure. After our own coaching experience, we have become huge fans of knowing exactly what is included, what costs extra, and whether one-on-one support is part of the price.
Our experience: Some firsthand familiarity through our interview and conversations with Randy Stanbury.
Honorable Mention: The Contractor Fight
The Contractor Fight, founded by Tom Reber, is worth knowing for its podcast, educational content, community, and direct approach to contractor profitability, sales, mindset, and leadership.
Tom is not afraid to challenge the assumptions contractors bring into their businesses.
Sometimes the constraint is not another SOP.
It is the owner who is afraid to charge what the work is worth. It is the owner who thinks paying himself appropriately is selfish. It is the owner who tolerates standards from employees or customers that he would tell another contractor never to accept.
The Contractor Fight offers multiple training and coaching options, including private coaching.
Elevation Marketing™’s take: Even if you do not ultimately hire The Contractor Fight, Tom’s podcast and educational content are worth adding to your contractor-business reading and listening list.
Our experience: Research-based honorable mention.
How Do You Choose the Right Contractor Coach?
Do not start by asking which coach is the most popular.
Start with the problem.
A roofer trying to build his first management layer has a different problem from an established custom builder trying to turn construction profits into real estate investments.
A junk removal company at $500,000 has different needs from a residential contractor with an experienced leadership team.
Before scheduling discovery calls, write down the three biggest constraints keeping your company from reaching its next stage.
Then evaluate every coach against those constraints.
1. Who Is the Program Actually Built For?
Ask about:
- Trade or industry
- Revenue range
- Team size
- Years in business
- Owner involvement
- Management depth
- Operational maturity
Do not buy aspirationally.
Being the smallest and least-developed company in an advanced peer group is not automatically a benefit. You need a program capable of meeting you where you are.
2. What Will You Personally Have to Do?
Ask for a realistic weekly time commitment.
Not the sales-answer version. The real version.
If the answer is five hours and you know there is no five-hour block available anywhere in your life, solve that problem before you sign.
3. Who Holds You Accountable?
Find out whether the program provides:
- A one-on-one coach
- Group coaching
- Peer accountability
- Scheduled implementation reviews
- Direct access between calls
- Self-guided education
Those are different products.
Access to a training library should not be confused with personalized coaching and accountability.
4. What Exactly Is Included?
Get specific.
How many one-on-one sessions do you receive? How often does the group meet? Who can participate? Are events included? What costs extra? Does the program include templates, SOPs, or implementation support?
We wish we had asked some of these questions more carefully before purchasing coaching ourselves.
5. Who Will Actually Coach You?
The person on the podcast or stage may not be the person you work with.
That is not necessarily a problem. A strong coaching organization should be able to train a team to deliver its methodology without requiring the founder to personally coach everyone.
You should still know who will be responsible for your account and what experience that person has with companies like yours.
6. Can You Speak With Members Who Resemble Your Company?
Do not settle for the most impressive testimonial on the website.
Ask to speak with someone in:
- Your trade
- A similar market
- A similar revenue range
- A similar stage of growth
- A similar ownership structure
Their experience will probably tell you more than another polished sales page.
7. What Does Success Require Outside the Coaching Calls?
This is the homework question.
If the program includes hundreds of hours of training, how are successful members consuming it? Who on your team needs access? Should an operations leader or implementer own part of the rollout? Which decisions still require the owner?
Build the implementation plan before you buy the implementation program.

Do Not Let AI Choose Your Contractor Coach for You
Yes, we used AI while researching this article and podcast.
Then we checked its homework.
You should, too.
AI tools confidently recommended people who, after further investigation, appeared to be speakers, authors, or media personalities rather than active contractor coaches offering the type of program we were researching.
AI is useful for expanding your research. It is not a substitute for vetting.
Use it to discover names, then go old school:
- Search for the company.
- Visit its official website.
- Review the current program.
- Look at the leadership team.
- Watch long-form interviews.
- Read reviews from multiple sources.
- Speak with contractors who have paid for the program.
A convincing AI answer is not due diligence.
Human judgment, verification, and firsthand conversations still matter.
What Contractors Should Do Before Hiring a Coach
If you are serious about coaching, follow this order:
- Identify the three biggest constraints in your business. “We need to grow” is not specific enough. “Every production decision still requires me” is.
- Determine your current business stage. Revenue matters, but so do team size, profitability, management depth, and owner dependence.
- Choose between broad and trade-specific coaching. A niche program can be powerful when the problems are tied directly to roofing, landscaping, junk removal, or another trade.
- Calculate your implementation capacity. Decide how many hours you and your leadership team can realistically commit each week.
- Assign an internal owner. Someone must be responsible for turning coaching into changes inside the business.
- Compare accountability structures. Do not assume that “coaching” automatically includes one-on-one support.
- Speak with current members. Prioritize contractors whose companies resemble yours.
- Understand the full investment. Include tuition, travel, events, extra coaching, and the cost of your team’s time.
- Block the homework time before the program begins. If it is not on the calendar, there is a good chance it will not happen.
- Decide how you will measure progress. Revenue alone is not enough. Track profitability, owner hours, close rates, job margins, team accountability, production performance, and the specific problems that drove you to seek help.
The right contractor coach can transform a company.
The coach still cannot do your push-ups for you.
FAQs About Contractor Business Coaching
Is contractor business coaching worth it?
Contractor business coaching can be worth the investment when the program addresses a specific constraint and the owner has the time, authority, and team support needed to implement the recommendations. Paying for coaching without allocating time for the work will limit its value.
How much does contractor coaching cost?
Contractor coaching can range from a few hundred dollars per month for educational memberships to several thousand dollars per month for personalized coaching or advanced mastermind programs. Compare the coaching format, contract term, expected workload, and support provided instead of choosing by price alone.
Should I Choose a General Contractor Coach or a Trade-Specific Coach?
Choose trade-specific coaching when pricing, production, labor, dispatch, or sales methods are unique to your industry. Broad contractor coaching may be more useful when the primary problems involve general leadership, financial management, hiring, accountability, or company-wide systems.
How Much Time Does Contractor Coaching Require?
The time commitment varies. Scheduled calls may require only a few hours, but watching training, documenting processes, working with employees, and implementing changes can require far more. Ask current members at a similar stage what the program actually demands each week.
Can an Employee Implement My Coaching Program for Me?
An employee or implementer can consume training, organize resources, and manage execution. However, financial, strategic, and leadership decisions will still require active owner participation.
What Is the Biggest Mistake Contractors Make With Coaching?
The biggest mistake is underestimating the homework. Access to a great coach, training library, and proven SOPs has limited value if nobody inside the company has the time and authority to implement them.
The Best Program Is the One Your Company Can Use
The smartest contractor coaching purchase is not the program with the biggest library, fanciest retreat, or boldest promise. It is the one built for your real problem, at your current stage, with a support model your team will use.
Strong operations also make marketing more effective.
Contractors who know their numbers understand what they can afford to spend to acquire a customer. They know which services are profitable, how well their sales team closes, and whether the company has capacity for more work.
That makes it possible to build marketing around the company’s actual goals instead of blindly asking for more leads.
At Elevation Marketing™, we use contractor marketing services such as SEO, content, paid media, and AI-supported research as tools. Human strategy, verification, and continuous refinement keep that work connected to the contractor’s business.
The goal is not a short-term traffic spike. It is a trusted brand and a digital foundation that becomes more valuable over time.
If you have firsthand experience with one of these coaching programs, tell Amanda and Devon what we got right and what we missed.
If coaching has exposed a marketing problem, bring us the numbers, bottlenecks, and growth plan. We will help you build the long-term visibility system around the business you are actually trying to create.
